In another well-known study, Stanford researchers compared local runners in their mid-50s to non-exercising Stanford community members who got the same high-quality medical treatment. The longer the patients had been running, the better the disc-spacing seemed. For weekly mileage, the same may be true. It was desirable to run longer distances.
